SEPTEMBER 9, 2016

“I have been driven many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had no where else to go. My own wisdom and that of all about me seemed insufficient for that day.”
― Abraham Lincoln

PROVERBS 15-16

You always can learn...never assume you know the way...

25There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death. (16:25)

2 CORINTHIANS 1

Paul understands and states that his power is only possible through God's grace and the spirit that dwells within him...

21Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, 22set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

JOURNAL

Humility is a term that can be very deceiving. However the definition of humility is: a disposition to be humble; a lack of false pride. So in essence humility is having a truthful understanding of our place in the world. It is the understanding that we are a speck in the universe and that our life is but a blink in the scope of time. However it also must serve to recognize that as insignificant as it is, it matters. Christ died so that we would have life and life abundantly. So true humility recognizes our insignificance while also recognizing our significance in Christ. So with humility I only take confidence in my life and it's purpose in Christ. For without Christ my life is simply a meaningless speck.

This definitely flies in the face of my shadow that often screams to be recognized, acknowledged and wants to feel important. Yet the only way these screams are sated is when they are surrendered to the beauty, power and love of God. For it is in those moments when I feel loved while at the same time, feeling blessed and humbled. It is also in this surrender to God that my thirst for meaning is quenched and I can rest easy in obedience.

6Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
