“Stay hungry, stay young, stay foolish, stay curious, and above all, stay humble because just when you think you got all the answers, is the moment when some bitter twist of fate in the universe will remind you that you very much don't.”

― Tom Hiddleston

JEREMIAH 51-52

1Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. His mother’s name was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah; she was from Libnah. 2He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, just as Jehoiakim had done. 3It was because of the Lord’s anger that all this happened to Jerusalem and Judah, and in the end he thrust them from his presence.(53:1-3)

HEBREWS 6

10God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. 11We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. 12We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

JOURNAL

I had a thought...what if the Bible was edited to be Facebook worthy. Meaning what if all the sin, difficulty, suffering, failure etc. were taken out so that we just had this pure, pristine image of perfect lives lived in obedience to God, with nothing but success and joy. If so there would be a lot to clean up...Adam's sin; Cain's murder, Moses' disobedience and doubt; the Israelites constant rebellion; Saul's paranoia and jealousy; David's indiscretions, lies, cowardice and murder of Uriah; Peter's denial; most of Paul's early life; Jesus' humble beginning and general public rejection and the fact that most every disciple was rejected and ultimately executed in humiliating fashion.

When you really look at it...the Bible is not social media worthy. It's a mess and it's characters wouldn't generally have a lot of followers...yet the reality is it's the perfect place for sinners, failures and freaks to go and find hope in their pain. It's the perfect place that everyone can go and be honest about their doubts, failures and sin. It is the perfect place for the worst in all of us which then gives us hope in finding the best in us.

15Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.
