“Faith is not the belief that God will do what you want. It is the belief that God will do what is right.”
― Max LucadoHe Still Moves Stones

EXODUS 7-8

1Then the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet. 2You are to say everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country. 3But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt, 4he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites. 5And the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”
6Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord commanded them. 7Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh.(7:1-7)

MATTHEW 17

18Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment.
19Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
20He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” [21]a

JOURNAL

Faith is trust in God, but in order to truly trust we are required to commit our lives in devotion  to God and his purposes. I don't believe this verse in Matthew is to be used as a form of witchcraft in order to make things happen for our own benefit. I believe it goes to the heart of God and that we can be part of all God is doing if God is truly our God. Nothing will be too hard for us or too miraculous...but only if we are the tools of God being used by him.

Moses surrendered to God and was used in amazing miraculous ways. Jesus is the perfect picture as God's son, completely devoted in every aspect of his life. Yet we know that even though he is...the human side of him will still struggle in faith and obedience. Yet ultimately Jesus obeys all the way to the cross.

13Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. 14As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”a
