“Each of us must confront our own fears, must come face to face with them. How we handle our fears will determine where we go with the rest of our lives. To experience adventure or to be limited by the fear of it.” ~ Judy Blume

JEREMIAH 40-42

19“Remnant of Judah, the Lord has told you, ‘Do not go to Egypt.’ Be sure of this: I warn you today 20that you made a fatal mistake when you sent me to the Lord your God and said, ‘Pray to the Lord our God for us; tell us everything he says and we will do it.’ 21I have told you today, but you still have not obeyed the Lord your God in all he sent me to tell you. 22So now, be sure of this: You will die by the sword, famine and plague in the place where you want to go to settle.”

HEBREWS 2

17For this reason he had to be made like them,k fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. 18Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

JOURNAL

People continually came to Jeremiah to seek truth and God's word, yet they only wanted to accept what they wanted to hear. There was always an agenda, never really honest searching of truth. I love this passage in Hebrews because it confirms that Christ understands our struggles and he suffered in temptation and that he is there to help us through our own struggles.

This morning I resonate with the struggle. So often there is a conflict between what I want to do and what I know is best. It all has to do with fear...either fear of future loss or fear of immediate suffering. That fear is my enemy, not life, but the fear that inhabits my mind. I have learned that this fear can be encountered and faced and overcome, however it requires that I see it for what it truly is and ultimately trust the truth of God. This is not easy and is a daily war, yet when I face it and calmly see it for what it is...I seem to gain strength and resolve to move in the direction of trust and action.
