- When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,What a glory He sheds on our way! While we do His good will, He abides with us still,And with all who will trust and obey...
- Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,Or we’ll walk by His side in the way; What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;Never fear, only trust and obey.
- ~ John H. Sammis
GENESIS 18-19
MATTHEW 6
31So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

JOURNAL
Yesterday was one of those days that I worried about since Trump's declaration of fraud at 2:30 in the morning on November 3. Thankfully it ended relatively quickly, however it is a disturbing realization of what can happen when people are prodded and pushed. I usually ignore most politics because I believe it posturing and twisted forms of truth. I did however stay up to hear the arguments presented by the objectors till 2:30 am. I wanted to hear, in light of the events of the day, if anything changed.
I was mostly encouraged because I never heard any of the extreme claims of fraud or "stealing" the election. I simply heard impassioned speeches regarding interpretations of congress' role in determining electors. I did hear senators say in no uncertain terms that "enough is enough" and were willing to stop playing politics and political games. They somewhat acknowledged that their words matter and that good honest people can be influenced to violence when they are irresponsible in their rhetoric. The woman who lost her life was not a "thug" but an Air Force veteran and business owner, yet there she was right in the middle of storming the capital.
I hope the next few days will bring a level of healing and accountability. Regardless though it is a sobering reminder of how quickly things can turn and how nothing is ever really out of the realm of possible when it comes to human behavior. However it also is a reminder that anger and rage are opposite to what Christ calls us to emulate.
Again coming back to scripture is healing and comforting as these passages are so rich with wisdom and instruction. There are days when I struggle to pull out verses but here there is a deluge of scripture that many many sermons could be written on. To find a central theme...to me it again all boils down to the question "who is your God, and how do you serve him?"
For Lot's wife...her lifestyle, her home, her hopes and dreams were her God. She couldn't bear to leave them. In continuing his sermon, Jesus warns about popularity and pleasing others as well as the lure of wealth, and finally the worry over tomorrow. Here again the question can be asked...who or what is your God and how do you serve him? For throughout all of scripture God promises that he loves us and our efforts and devotion will not be in vain. So to worry over tomorrow is to really fail to trust God and to question the outcome of serving him.
The lyrics of this old hymn that came to mind..."trust and obey, for their is no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey". It really is all about those two words...trust and obey.

JOHN 14:23-24
A riot is the language of the unheard.
ReplyDelete—Martin Luther King
If you want a certain way of life(NOT Communism) don’t riot, VOTE (except no matter how many of you do that we will create MORE so that you will lose 😈) Yes, 80 million people REALLY voted for a man with obvious Alzheimer’s—keep those record players on—and if you think DT has a dubious moral background, you need to check out President-elect Harris.
If you have a problem with the election take it to the courts (except they will REFUSE to even hear your case 😈)
You had your vote, you had your day in court, now SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP!
Do you hear me now?
